The Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind established a Further Education Bursary Awards Program in 1995. In 2004 the Royal Victorian Institute for the Blind, the Royal Blind Society and Vision Australia Foundation merged, and expanded the program to include students studying in NSW and the ACT.
In 2005 the Cybec Foundation agreed to fund one of these bursaries.

Lauren Hayes Lauren is studying for the Degree of Bachelor of Music at Melbourne University.
In the past she has won the Merlyn Myer Leadership award, the Variety Club Young Arts Achiever Award and the Betty Amsden Music Scholarship. Lauren has attended camp for young people with disabilities as a volunteer leader and 2004 worked in the UK, at RNIB New College in Worcester, as a gap student and community service volunteer. |
